With millions of active users online, unquestionably Twitter is one of the finest ways to publicize and share your content and ideas on the web. There’s a great deal of Twitter tools and plugins for WordPress available to choose from. Here I list a selection of remarkable Twitter plugins for WordPress.

Let’s make Twitter and WordPress work together!

Tweetmeme Retweet Button | Download

The famous Retweet button is for website and blog publishers that want to encourage their audience to retweet their content on Twitter. It shows up to date tweet counts and shorten your title and link for the retweets. Best of all it will work on any web page, anywhere!

Official Twitter Widget | Download

These widgets are compatible with any website and most social networks. Simply choose one where you would like to include it.

Twitter Counter | Download

Integrates the TwitterCounter.com badges on your blog to display the number of followers you have on Twitter. You can also add the Twitter Remote to your blog, which shows which twitter users recently visited your blog or website.

WP to Twitter | Download

It posts a Twitter status update from your WordPress blog using either the Cli.gs or Bit.ly URL shortening services to provide a link back to your post from Twitter.

CommenTwitter | Download

It gives the commenter the option of sending their comment to twitter and allowing people to follow that blog comments both in the blog and in twitter.

Twitter Friends Widget | Download

This plugin displays your followers in your sidebar the same way as they appear on your Twitter homepage.

@Reply | Download

It allows you to add Twitter-like @reply links to comments. When clicked, those links insert the author name and a link to the comment you are replying to in the text area.

Twitter Feed | Download

Twitter Feed plugin makes including and linking to tweets on multiple Twitter accounts simple and flexible. The application will display the latest tweet from all of the active accounts and then display those latest tweets in date order. It is also possible to switch between allowing/disallowing PM (Private Message) tweets to be included in the display.

Top Twitter Links | Download

This displays currently popular links that have been tweeted.

TweetBacks | Download

This plugin imports those tweets about your posts as comments. You can display them in between the other comments on your blog, or display them separately.

WP FollowMe Plugin | Download

WP FollowMe is a wordpress plugin that allows you to add a twitter “Follow me” badge on your wordpress blog.

Conclusion

This is just a small collection of awesome Twitter plugins. I’ll be updating this post as I explore and experiment with more plugins. If you have any recommendation please leave a reply.
